I finally got some time to finish up a few projects. Here is an antler and casing pen which has been waiting on assembly. Sorry for the poor quality pic.

See now I have the opposite opinion. The pen looks great until you get to the copper. I love copper kits, but not on gold shell casing pens. I think it would look amazing if you could powder coat or buy a copper casing.

I believe it is a standard slimline kit, great job.
I have had to fittings appear as copper on some I have photographed also.
Though I appreciate Axis it is very plain.I still would like a supply of it for different blanks I have in mind.
I used to look down on white tail that looked less than pure white.
Now I seek it out.
That is the beauty of working with natural materials.
Keepem coming cozee.

I have another pen which I combined antler and an arrow shaft. I passed it along to the new owner without getting a pic. I will try to get ahold of them this weekend. I have never worked with Axis as Whitetail is fairly abundant around these parts. In this case, the pen is going to the person who graciously gave me six full racks. Attached to some are some really neat looking pieces of skull. Been trying to figure out how to do things so that I can make a desk set out of them and use the antlers "stumps" as the pen holders. May just have to mount them to a wooden base.

Cut the antler keeping as much as the skull with it as you can.
Square off the "skull" end turn a tenon between centers.
Drill a hole with a forstner bit the same dia as the tenon.
If you want the crown angled make the cut afterwards.
Polish and drill the cut end for the pen holder.
