I finally managed to finish a Ligero without blowing out the tubes. This is blue dyed stabilized curly maple that I got as a freebie from BB. The blank looked really ugly (for lack of a better word) on the outside but I was really pleasantly surprised when I got into it. I didn't think I was going to like this kit due to all the plastic but the pen really feels good in the hand. Thanks to everyone for the advice, particularly Eagle. Pen is sanded to 2000 and finished with Enduro. Thanks as always for looking.

Try a fountain version of the Ligero. You'll like it. Nice job on yours. I can't count how many times I have spun an ugly BB blank only to have it turn out great.

Thats the funny thing about turning wood, sometimes what I think is going to be a knockout is a thro-out and when I have a blank that looks just so so it is beautiful when its finished. You did that BB blank proud, excellent fit and finish is right on.
