This is an Aero I made from a tiny bit of some DIW sent to me by a friend in Tucson. It had several cracks which thin CA remedied.

Sanded to 600 followed by MM-12000, CA-BLO, Double buff, and Ren wax.

Last PIC is natural and the first three are flash which tends to flatten the high gloss.

Very Nice! .... but then your pens always are :)

DIW is on my list of "woods I want to turn" ... That piece is particularly nice with the blend of sapwood/heartwood.

That's a real nice piece of DIW Bree. You did good !

It looked like a piece of trash when I started and even after I cut it into blank size on the bandsaw. It only transformed itself during turning and after several applications of thin CA to plug the cracks. LOL! The live pen looks quite nice because the detail of the heartwood is much more visible than the PIX show.

Bree, that is a very nicely done pen. I have never turned DIW, puts me in the mind of two tone Texas ebony. I think the pictures look great!
