I saw a blank for sale - a denim cast in clear resin with the tube cast in place - the blank is 3/4 x 5. Now that I have it in hand, I'm wondering how do I cut it - up to this point in time, I have always just glued the tubes from the pen kit into a blank and then trimmed the blank down to the tube, but here, the entire blank is a tube, which means it has to be cut to the correct lengths to start with. How have others cut these blanks to the correct lengths?

I use the bandsaw. Be careful and make sure the blank can't rotate, as the ones I've used are not perfectly square. I use the tube from the kit to get the proper length. And you may need to tidy up the cut surface after cutting. Does that help?

I've used a table saw and a bandsaw to cut mine. They both work pretty well.
And yes you will need to clean the end up with a pen mill or by sanding.

Pretubed blanks will dull any type of blade. If you have several to cut use an old blade, not a new one. Any decent power saw will cut them. I have used a band saw and a cutoff saw. The band saw is safer.
