I am trying to get ready to make my wedding favors. The idea was to make bottle stoppers with a plastic medallion in the top with our names and date on it. I wanted to have a clear resin over it to protect it and make it look like a glass dome.

I've purchased everything I need to make my HF pressure pot a vacuum pot thanks to everyone here. Let me know if I have the steps correct.

1. Drill the top of the stopper and epoxy the medallion.
2. Use some Castin' Craft Casting Resin from Michaels and pour it over the medallion.
3. Place in vacuum pot and leave for several hours.

Does that sound right? How long do I leave it in the pot? The resin won't be very thick maybe 1/4" at most.

If you use Alumilite (sp?) then it will be less than an hour. If you use Casting Resin you should plan on leaving it for several hours or overnight (what I do).

Make sure you have an extra medallion so if the first cast reacts you don't end up short.

For 1/4" thick you could also just get the two part pourable top coat for tables. it will easily build to 1/4" and you won't need the pressure pot.
