I learned there are some woods you use Just CA on...and not BLO/CA...at least for the first coat! :rolleyes: I really like the dark one, but it doesn't look like curly Koa!

The customer loves Hawaii and wanted pens to hand out to her family.

The Koa is an Acacia and its closest relative in Australia, in terms of grain pattern is Blackwood - Acacia Melanoxylon. The dark pen you show is very much like the colour of Curly Blackwood.

And ArtMe, that's good info! I might have to look for some Curly Blackwood, as i really liked the way the darker one turned out!
