Is it possible:confused:

I have an A mandrel and want to try some kits which require the B mandrel. Has anyone ever found a way to convert the A to B, perhaps with a brass or acrylic sleeve?

Trying to save a few pennies.

Thoughts?

I have both and I think the only way to convert from or the other is to use a collet chuck to use both size rods. I started TBC and love it. I still have a mandrel just because I have not made TBC bushings for all my kits yet....

There are risks with loss of precision with messing with thin sleeves, especially with the low cost of the 8 mm (B) mandrel.

The advantage of thicker mandrel is stiffness and resistance to flexing. You lose the advantage and gain hassle to save 10 bucks.

Thanks Everyone!

Monty I think you're right, TBC seems the best solution.... And while the cheaper kit bushings may not be perfect, they aren't perfect on a mandrel either. So that's probably the way I'll go for now.

Happy Turning! and Learning as I Go!:cowboy:
