First time with these kits, first time with either of the woods, first decent CA finish on the Jr Gent, AND ( drum roll please ) first successful turning with a skew:D:D:D

Got this wood from Andy Kirkham who also taught me how to use a skew.
Can you guess the wood? Clues; changes colour from dark brown to gold as the light catches it and the tree is poisonous?

This one was real scary to turn and I expected it to blow out several times but luckily it held together. Cross cut spalted maple from James Mann. Hate the kit, but luckily I have more of the wood.

what's the kit on the lower pen?

Nope, it's Laburnum. The bottom kit is the CSUSA Executive Rollerball.
The metal to metal threads feel horrible and cheap. I've had it for ages and can't remember what the plating is. Probably only 24k

Steven turning kit pens?!? What's this world coming to? Next thing ya know, Eagle will be turning plastic. Oh yeah, too late [}:)][)][;)]

Nice work. Beautiful spalted maple on the second photo. Nicely skewed!

Our resident rodent with a Skew? Will wonders never cease? How hard was it to clean up the old paint and stuff of it after using it to open cans for so long?
