I made this shaving brush from a piece of flashy Soapstone as a Christmas gift for my son. It has silvertip Badger hair bristles (his choice).
The Soapstone turned nicely with a carbide-tipped tool followed by sanding and polishing. It currently has several layers of thin shellac to bring up the shine. If that ends up not liking the amount of water a shaving brush gets exposed to, it's fairly simple to remove that finish and apply something else.
