This is what was left of a pecan tree stump from my neighbor's yard. Unfortunately the tree fell to Ike's winds. It was a real shame as it was a native pecan and it always bore a lot of nuts. IMHO the native pecan nut, while hard to crack, it the BEST tasting of all the different varieties. Anyway, the stump needed to come out and I thought that I could a "few" pens from it. :-)
