Presentation for pen turned from UofM's Crisler Arena maple flooring from Keith Byrd. Present for my nephew, an alum.
My challenge was to find a way to preserve the original floor surface -- including color, varnish, paint and scuff marks -- and still keep the presentation attractive. After some brainstorming, my solution was to slice off 3/16 of the surface and shape it to fit the recess inside the lid of a PSI maple pen box.
