Pin chuck
From IAP-Wiki
Pin Chucks are a form of closed end mandrel. A 7mm pen mandrel can easily be converted into a pin chuck. While metalworking equipment will make the job easier, simple hand tools can be used successfully.
Needed Items:
Bare pen mandrel
1/16" piano wire
7mm brass tube
Tools:
Mandrel taper OR Drill chuck with drawbar attachment
File OR milling machine to cut the pocket for the pin.
Caution! When you are working with the tailstock not restraining the work piece, you must use a drawbar to restrain the holder and workpiece.
Start with a bare pen mandrel with no taper attached to it.
