Pick your top choice for the winning pen of the casting contest.
Pen 1
Bright black hardware with a custom blank. This is a pour from leftover resin from two other pours we were doing for other projects. Sometimes I think these look better than the blanks where the colors are carefully selected.
Pen 2
The kit is a Anvil EDC Click Pen.
It's watch parts over a base of black carbon fiber.
Pen 3
Label casting featuring my 10 year old granddaughter's art work.
Pen 4
I've been thinking about a lightsaber pen for years and finally made it happen!
The handle/cap was cast from a mold but with a brass tube embedded to make space for the pen. An o-ring was attached to the top of the brass tube to hold the cap in place on the pen.
The pen itself is a modified, modified slimline. Because the glow effect was vital for this design, the blank needed to be translucent and therefore the hole needed to have a uniform look. To achieve this I did a tube-in casting of an 8mm tube, then glued the upper 7mm tube inside that. This allows the refill to be extended by twisting the nib. Lastly, I turned a custom cap from the same blank used in the body of
