    Cross-cut spalted Hawaiian Lama

This lovely stabilised blank came from a dear friend and he said that is was the punkiest piece of timber he has ever stabilised. It was like chalk. Basically turned to dust when I was turning it. Slowly but surely down to size. Fully lined with ebonite, ca matte finish. The grip section is also...

    2 tone Jamaican brown ebony

G’day! Made this pen a few weeks ago, a lovely piece of contrasting Jamaican brown ebony. Was a delight to turn. The sapwood was quite dense mostly, needed to flood a few small punky areas with thin ca. The pen is fully lined with Nikko ebonite, and the section is also Nikko ebonite. Matte CA...

    #3, finished yesterday.

This is my third kitless pen. The brass connector in the middle was a real pain. In total, I have about 25 hours in this one. I'm really happy with the final product. It's not perfect, but it's as close as I can get ATM.

    Another first for me

Finished this one up over the weekend. This is my very first attempt at putting a pen clip on a kitless pen – and the amount of creativity required to turn all of the different parts was crazy. I had to make my own mandrel, with threads on the outside of one end, and threads on the inside of...

Making a fountain pen nib feed

I searched to see if a thread for this already exists – but I couldn't find anything, so here I am. I am finding it increasingly difficult to find nib units for my kitless fountain pens. I typically order from either Turner's Warehouse or Beaufort Inks – but both of them seem to be sold out of...

    Amboyna burl

G'day! Me again. Thought I'd share my latest timber pen. I don't do as many of these as I do resin (they take 3 times longer). This amazing amboyna burl needed to highlight the pen. No clips, no rollstops, no added materials. Just a super glossy fancy looking stick!! M13x.8 triple start...

    I am not a robot

Hello world I've turned wood for a number of years (purely as a hobbyist) and I happened to be chatting with some friends who are fountain pen enthusiasts. I enjoy making kit pens as fun gifts, but they turned (pun intended) me on to the idea of "kitless" simply to take advantage of the higher...

    Rib fruited mallee burl

G'day! Me again! I'm introducing a new model soon, gathering half a dozen to a dozen pens for a promo photo shoot then releasing these. 'The natural range'. They are larger pens, M14 triple start threads. This piece of rib fruited mallee burl was a pleasure from start to finish. Beautiful sweet...

    Cross-cut Australian hairy oak

G'day! Had a spontaneous build yesterday, while looking for a blank suitable for another project, I found this marble looking resin and instantly knew it would work with some hairy oak. I love the contrast in colours. Lined with ebonite, section is also ebonite. Ca finish. Jowo #6 nib

    Amboyna Burl

G'day! Got this ravishing piece of amboyna but it was alot shorter than a standard blank, so I tried to stretch it out with finials of ebonite. This is a pen for me, so I sanded up to 2000 and used boiled linseed oil on a rag and on slow speed rubbed it in for 5 minutes. I've found it burnishes...

Adding a clip to a closed end pen

I am just starting to get going with kitless pens and have enjoyed everything so far. I am one of those that prefer a clip on a pen, however this seems to be the minority of kitless examples I am seeing. I read some of the resource articles on this looking for ideas and haven't yet found a...
