I've been making too many blanks recently. I have about 150 polyester blanks now. My wife reminded me that I haven't made any pens in months.

Lots of firsts here:

  • First time using mica pigments instead of solid in PR.
  • First "decent" swirl.
  • First time using European pen kit
  • First time using a polishing mop instead of a million grit sandpaper.
  • First pen all summer.
  • First time my lathe drew blood (got my knuckle too close to the chuck when sanding).

I love bank holidays. See the sad story of the blank here.

Only tiny problem with this pen is that the clip end is about 9.7mm and needs to be 10 in order to be flush with the cap. Doesn't sound like much, but it's really quite visible.

I am the same way. I have about three hundred blanks and I've turned ten pens in the past two months. The pen looks good though. What Micas did you use?
