Using pen blank wood shavings attached to Sierra series tubes and cast in Polyester Resin using The Resin Saver Mold.

These first two are made with Bloodwood with some Maple pen turning wood shavings.

The next three were made using Spalted Box Elder (AKA) Manitoba Maple pen turning wood shavings.

Jeez I hope my SIL doesn't see these, he was asking me if it would be a good idea and I told him it wouldn't look good at all, Now I'm going to have egg all over my face. Les those are beautiful, what a great idea, I think animefans thought was to just mix the shavings with PR, not to glue the shavings to tubes then cast them. You constantly amaze me with your work.

What a cool idea! Thanks for sharing it with us! They do look pretty darn cool!

I have bags of PR shavings that i do something similar with...

I like to keep the shavings seperated by color, and use them in layers. I just fill up the mold with shavings, and pour a different color over them. The end result is a pretty interesting deal. I use this technique most with stoppers, as they are easier to get the resin to the bottom of the cup.
