Best New Article Contest Nominations!

The object of this contest is to decide, through a process of nominations and voting, which is the best article of 2008. Hopefully, this will bring some attention to the new and interesting articles that have been added to our library in the past year, and encourage some of you to get started on your articles for next year!

The rules are quite simple. Have a scan through the library, and find your favorite article that's dated 2008. Randy's new and improved library index can be found at:

http://www.penturners.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1488

Or you can go straight to the articles here:

http://www.penturners.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1487

And please don't forget the "Behind the Nib articles"

http://www.penturners.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3828

We also have 2 articles on the front page for consideration:

http://content.penturners.org/articles/2008/indianblanket.pdf

Nominate your favorite article by posting on this thread with the name of the article and the name of the author. Nominations will be accepted starting now, until February 8th at 6PM, forum time. At that point, I will create a new post with the names of the articles that were nominated, and we will vote on the best article of 2008!

Rules:
1) This article must be from 2008
2) The article must reside in the IAP library
3) You can only nominate one article (and it can't be your own!)

Please read the articles carefully, and choose your favorite. The criteria for "best" is up to you; most innovative, best written, most informative, so read carefully, and choose wisely!

Nominations will be accepted until 6PM forum time February 8th, after which voting will occur!

Edit: Lou's "Behind the nib" articles were left out, They were also written in 2008 and are included in this contest.

Two articles on the front page were left out.

Yay, first contest of the bash!

I have looked over all the articles, having read them all before, and my nomination is:

Pin Chuck, O-Ring by Steven Jackson (2008)

Skiprat made it very informative, and most importantly for me, visual, making it my choice for best new article! I haven't made the chuck yet, but I've got the step-by-step printed out and in my to-do pile! :)

Good luck Skiprat!

This is tough because all the articles are really good.

But, so far the one that I personally put to use the most and will have to nominate is John Crane's Custom Finials.

It was well written and made it so even a dummy like me could understand the process and better yet...actually be successful doing it!!

I would like to nominate the Behind the Nib series by Lou Metcalf. Personally, I think the entire Behind the Nib series should be view as one. They give the reader great insight into the world of fountain pens. These articles investigate many of the intricacies and nuances that make a fountain pen tick. If, however, I were limited to just one of these, then I would pick Prepping a Nib.
