Default Harry Potter blanks

Hey guys someone wants me to make a pen for her son. He loves Harry Potter specifically the Slythern house, the colors are green & silver. I have this http://tinyurl.com/ycqgso7
What would be the best way to cast this. Should I use trans tint dyes or acrylic paint or ???

Thanks for the help

If you are looking into only mixing colors i've used tester enamel paint but now i only use mica powders. if you have time to make an order check out http://www.coastalscents.com/cfwebst...category_id=35 and look for the best matching colors. if you're only making a few blanks the sample baggies are the cheapest way to go bc a little goes a long way. I've actually given harry potter blanks a thought and the "emerald isle" and the "antique silver" look very close. best of luck and hope this is helpful!

Roll the film of the old Lays' Commercial here-

Betcha can't cast just one (two).

As for what to use for pigments:

Do you want a metallic / pearl look, or a solid color?

If you want metallic/pearl: Get some Pearl-Ex from Michaels.

You might want to spend some time browsing my Resin Color Library to get ideas on how much pigment to add. Pearl-ex, in my experience, tends to make fairly transparent blanks- so you may need to paint your tubes one color and use an opaque recipe for the other color.

Or: you could have any of several people here (including myself, Jeff in Indiana, or others) make you the blanks for a reasonable cost - unless you're planning on making more blanks, in which case investing in more pigments shouldn't be a concern.

Anyone who has an old bookmark to the library should check that it only goes to the front page- I redid it a while back so it's searchable, but only if you use the new version.

Finally- if you get colors you like (or even ones you don't) the library can always use more recipes. Honestly I think some of the best data in there isn't the color info (monitor differences and scanner accurracy affect that), but the info on transparency, gel time vs catalyst and temp, etc.

I made these the other day before I read your post. Would they work or were you wanting something different?

Jason,
I really haven't thought about metallic or solid. Thanks for the link to your library I may also take someone up on making them for me. I've never cast them before I've only done 1 stopper with a cast top.

Elizabeth,

Those are fantastic color, but I just need it to be green & silver. I have to match this color. The silver is kind of dull or brushed color. I do like the way your looks with all the colors intertwined.

Maybe use a kit with black titanium parts to match the dull silver, and barrels of a dark green resin or wood dyed dark green.
