Following on from the idea given here by hewunch, I present my version of the Nylatron pen. I did mine on a chromed Euro.



This stuff is a pig to work. Nylon is really soft. A sharp tool tends to bite into it. When you do get a nice cut, it's a devil to finish. I can't get any laquer to stick to it and I think my first attempt melted onto the buffing wheel.

looks great, but wouldnt you just finish it like any other acrylic, with just mm?

This isn't acrylic, it's nylon. Much much softer than acrylic.

I couldn't sand it at all. High grit numbers did nothing at all (very smooth grades just heated up) and low grit numbers just dug in and cut big gouges.

huh, sounds challenging! at any rate the pen turned out great!
