Iíve had the same thing happen on the ends of blanks. Brushguy from YT mentioned that a month or so after doing BLO/CA finishes on wood brushes...

This is what I'm going to try first. It's a large amount of wood, most of a large mesquite. I think I'll put it into large plastic bags and bomb it. We're running a good 15 degrees below normal here...

So what do your special ones look like? I think the blank & kit are a perfect match. Like Brad I generally don’t like the ornate kits, but paired with that awesome blank the pen looks fantastic....

It’s not quite a hollowform. The cavity goes about halfway to the wings. I don’t have a swan neck hollowing tool, just the articulating head from Sorby. I’ve been eyeing one from Easywood though.
