PSI is now offering the Vertex in RBs and FPs with a magnetic cap. I think they look pretty good and will give them a try.

I'm not loving the new style yet. Admittedly, it does have it's place. We'll see.
Thanks for the post.

It's gotta beat the Vertex clicker. I've had to rebuild one three times due to the plastic mechs. I don't think clickers are worth all the trouble they cause.
But, back on topic. The Zen looks a whole lot better. IMO

I love the zen, so another magnetic kit sounds interesting. I may have to wait till I see one in person though. The pics on the website make it look like funny proportions... The cap looks really big to me.

I like the zen, but I'm not loving this from the pics. The proportions of cap to body to finial seem wrong to my eye. And, I think there is too much going on in the band right where you grip the pen. I perfer something without ridges to grip.

To each his own.

Morning Dick,

Thanks for the info on the new Vertex. Show me a -pen kit and straightway a verbal barrage will ensue. I have to tell you I am excited all the recipients of Vertex Pens I have made using my design pen mill cut hexagonally have met with rave reviews no probs with the mechs etc. Also someone this week talked about his Lug Nut pen also uses hexes in the kit and now your info on the new version of Vertex. May there be many more they in my mind have made my day allowing me to craft the pen around their kits. Every kit I see conjours up a new design.

Now as a guy who lives within his means and specialising in Slimlines and derivatives nowadays using Streamline centre bands to make fatter pens I wont be purchasing hundreds of anything else and at 76 yrs of age why should I. I put it to the forum tell me your experiences with receptions your pens give with friends and neighbors uninfluenced by your own predudices. When I introduced pens made from REBAR I had the most complete acceptance from Steelies, Builders etc so I repeat horses for courses. Here and elsewhere comments is it too heavy (no it is not) etc in the hands of users rave reviews.

Dick as you know me from my pen making I added my comments to again say thankyou for bringing out this kit to folks like me who get quite excited at the challenge in design.

Kind regards Peter.

I have made several of the Vertex pens, and I personally like them. I like the style and the magnetic cap is kind of neat IMHO. People seem to like it too. They usually twist it at first and when u tell them to pull the cap off, they are like "Oh wow thats a magnet".. I didn't realize that the magnetic caps and the clicks were two different size bushings, and when I made my first click with a carbon fiber insert and the fit was off, i was less than thrilled about it. I will say I tried desperately to disassemble the pen once I got the right size bushings and it just didn't happen, I broke the acrylic on the finished blank and scrapped the whole project :(

But overall I like both the magnetic and click styles of these pens, and currently I have several of them for sale and have sold about 6 (only been doing this since December.. )

:)

I share your favorable opinion about the Vertex RB & FP. I've made several and am happy with them. We have done very well with the Vertex click, it is the first click that I've been able to sell.

When the zen was new I made a couple and disliked them so much that I gave away one and threw away the other. I've been looking for a magnetic cap that isn't so clunky and these seem promising.

We haven't had the RB $ FP at a show yet, but we will in a couple weeks. If they sell well I will learn to like them quickly. I've also made several of the Vertex pencils, I have high hopes for them as well.

I have enjoyed the Vertex RB. Balance feels good and not too top heavy with the cap posted. My only problem is I can't carry the pen due to my pacemaker, so one is being driven by my F-I-L . He loves the thing! I did enjoy making it, and, I'll do more of them.

Personally, not a fan of the Vertex. My buyers like them! This matters to me! The gunmetal with Gary's Carbon Fiber does not stay on display...it goes home with someone who does like it....easy to make, easy to sell (at a reasonable price...I sell them at $55).

will definitely pick up some of the new RB and FP models on my next PSI order.

The auto mechanic in me likes the Vertex pens, but I haven't tired making any of them yet, because I'm not sure how they'll go over selling them. But I think they look cool in a masculine sort of way, so I'll probably add some kits in on a future order and give them a whirl.

+1 for the Vertex click with carbon fiber. They are good sellers. I don't get why some put down the click. The other night I was showing one to a guy (it is my current carry pen) he does caligraphy and he really liked the smooth click operation.
