Default spring meeting

As per the discussions of Yesterday I vote for the first Sunday of the month as opposed to the fourth Sunday of the month. I think we will have less holidays to deal with Memorial Day Thanksgiving Christmas 4th Sunday. The first Sunday the only things that come to mind are New Years day and the Fourth of July, I realize Dennis and the First of October but we don't have to have that quarter's meeting in October. My 2 cents worth.

I agree with Dennis, the first Sunday seems the best. I also think, as discussed on Sunday, we should set the meeting in stone rather than try to accommodate a lot of us. If you can make it the come, if not then see you at the next meeting. It will be easier to schedule around a solid meeting than a floating one.

Default Background on the proposed meeting dates ...

Here are some of my thoughts as I was looking at the calendar:

I only quickly looked at other months, spending most of my analysis on the proposed months in order to (re)establish the quarterly cadence that started in January. Starting in January, then, lead me to the following suggested meeting dates.

First suggested date: March 25, 2012
  • Not a holiday
  • End of March is probably better weather than the beginning of March
  • Going for early April bumps against Easter
Second suggested date: June 24, 2012
  • Not a holiday
  • Early June bumps against a lot of graduations for children, grandchildren, spouses, etc.
  • End of June is probably (I think) not a vacation problem since most people would wait a week to take advantage of the July 4th holiday.
Third suggested date: September 23, 2012
  • Early September bumps against Labor Day
  • End of September is not a holiday
Fourth suggested date: January 27, 2013
  • Not a holiday
  • Starts the cycle over
If you have alternate dates to suggest, now is the time to chime in (thank you to those who already have), but remember our constraints:
  • Avoid the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th Sundays (which occur in January, April, July, September, and December)
  • Avoid Holidays
  • Avoid Hunting Season (I expanded this to also avoid graduation season)
Thanks again to everyone who attended and for the frank conversation on scheduling. We agreed that we would talk about dates on-line for a couple of weeks, then we'll lock them in for the year.

Those dates look good. Can we put them in cement?

Those dates look good to me, but as last meeting showed you can't plan for illness, so having the dates clear doesn't mean I will be able to make any of them.

Default Sunday meetings

Those dates sound good to me. Does not seem to conflict with any holidays.
