I am looking for a volunteer or two to demonstrate a CA or CA/BLO finish. Obviously, you will need to be able to attend our January 11th meeting...

Please let me know if you would be willing to do this for the group.

Thanks!!

If nobody else wants to stick their neck out I guess I can demonstrate my "version" of a CA finish. Probably end up with all my fingers stuck together.

Please remember to visit the outhouse BEFORE your demonstration.
(Just a suggestion!!)

I could demo the version that I've learned... Its with both CA/BLO.

The only thing I ask is that I be in the earlier part of the meeting.. I don't know how late I can stay.

Dean, we would love to take you up on the offer and I will put it near the very top of the agenda! How long should I set aside for the demo?

John, we appreciate the offer. I would like to see Deans process and if it differs greatly from yours would you be able to Demo it at the next meeting? My goal is have several differnt styles of this finish Demo'd.

Thanks Again!! Let me know if you need anything from me...

Works for me, it'll be good to see another version and I can put off sticking my fingers together until next time.

Well you will have to excuse me but I'm brand new to this forum and was wondering what the requirements are to attend the meetings? I'm very interested in this group, myself being a fairly new turner. Thanks ahead for the help.

Mike.. I would think for a demo sake 10 minutes or so... Maybe another 10 for q/a max.

I'll bring a pen on a mandrel all ready to go... All I'll need is a lathe.

Sounds good Dean! Does your process require an electric controlled variable speed lathe or will any old lathe do?

Once again, Thanks!!!

Mike.. Any lathe will work with MT2 (for my mandrel)... I do ALL turning and finishing of pens at 'Lightning' speed. (3900 rpm on my little jet).

I believe, under the circumstance, we should require at least a pitcher of your "namesakes"!!!

Mike,

Unless you are a serious drinker, you probably don't know a "Rusty Nail" is Scotch and Drambuie - about 70 proof and goes down like silk.

Not as good when it comes back up.

Ed,

I looked up the drink prior to posting... Not my style drink, I was thinking more along the lines of beer for the pitcher.

Ed, I'm impressed, I have been using that handle for awhile and no body has ever put it together with a drink. Must be a Wisconsin thing! LOL

BTW only one pitcher? No problem!

Let's just say my drinking experience, while voluminous, is NOT impressive.

Look forward to meeting you!!!

I started turning about the same time I stopped "drambuie-ing"!

I would be glad to show my version of a BLO/CA finish. I could do it on any lathe and it should take less than 10 minutes.
All of this depends on our Wisconsin weather.

Larry,

We would love to have you demonstrate your version of the BLO/CA, especially if it will only take 10mins or so. I'll put it on the agenda. If you can't make it this time, then we'll try to give it a go at the next get together.

Let me know if you need anything…

Thanks Again!!!
