Welcome Fred, from outside of your local chapter. I know you had a great time meeting the folks there and watching some demos. I can't wait until I get back to the States and can attend a local chapter.
Below is a link to a PDF file that goes over many aspects of pen turning from finish - to pens - to tools - to methods etc. It is not in detail but a good overview for pen turning and provides a fair knowledge base from which to start gathering tools and starting the turning.

Glad you made it. We're not always as charming and gracious as you saw us
today.. but sometimes we're OK. We even wash up for company.
Keep an eye on the New England forum to get an idea what we'll do for the
next meeting .. and if you have any ideas of your own, bring them up so we
can talk them out and then overrule you.. er .. I mean ..

Speak for yourself. The weathermen around here said we are still 1.92 inches short for total rainfall for this year so far. Being that I have a well for water, I am doing what I can to conserve water.:drink:
