Folks -
Where to buy non-domestic (exotic) hardwoods in Ohio? I'm not talking Woodcraft/Dayton, but a real lumberyard with purpleheart, etc. Now that I think about it, I'll go hit http://www.woodfinder.com/ to see whats nearby. Examples: When in Boston, I could drive up to Highland Hardwoods to get boards, lumber, or shorts of various *amazing* wood (burls, monkeypod, etc.) There was Anderson & McQuaid with nice lumber of various lengths/widths -- lignum vitae, etc. |

Berkshire Lumber in Sheffield, MA has an amazing selection.
But it's a very expensive place to visit. Not because the prices are high - but because they are low and you tend to get carried away.

If you are near the Columbus area, check out Woodwerks. I believe that they have 2 locations. Here is their address: www.woodwerks.com

Try Keim Lumber in Charm, Ohio. It's right in the heart of Amish country. It is a gigantic place with a huge selection of tools, machinery, remodeling supplies, you name it. It's about the size of several Home Depots. The best buckwheat pancakes anywhere are right across the street at the Homestead Restaurant.
