I have been reading this site for a few weeks now off and on and I bought a lathe last week and have turned 3 pens so far

All slimline kits

1st made of Zebrawood

2nd out of maple muti-ply plywood.... Learned a few lessons with it... had a blank explode off the tube and had a tube glue itself before I had it inserted in the other blanks

3. I made a segmented pen out of 3 blanks in butternutt wenge and rosewood stripes and turned one of those today... still have the other 2 to go

learning alot and hope to learn more

Welcome Tat, from far west Kentucky, to the addiction, sometimes referred to as the vortex. You mention that you have read some of the site, be sure to give the library a good bit of time. The link is at the top of the page. You will find an article called Library Index. This covers tutorials on about anything pen making you can think of. You will also notice that there are articles listed by year. Much good info there as well. When these fail to answer your questions, by all means post it here. I have never seen one go unanswered very long. You might also want to give this thread a good look. It has some very good info for the beginning pen turner; http://content.penturners.org/library/general_reference/Getting_started_in_pen_turning.pdf. Grab some wood, make some shavings and have fun all the while being safe.
Have a look at the series of videos ed4copies has just posted showing how to complete a pen from drill to finish.
It would appear from your handle that you are already an accomplished craftsman, glued-finger-to-eyeball.:)

Hiya Tat, welcome to IAP.

You really HAVE to tell us how and why you chose the moniker.
Your profile says your interest is in debonding CA:biggrin: LOL, NOBODY here has ever got into a sticky mess with CA and I promise we won't laugh at your story!!

Welcome! And I'm new here too...Guess we can learn together. I'm amazed at the great looking pens these folks turn out. Only hope I can get this good one day.
