Hi,
I'm Reggy. I want to say hello to you all. I just became a member of IAP, hoping to learn from all of you. I am about to start pen making as a new way of using my DIY woodworking "skills", where turning is not a part of. Right now I am wondering what lathe is the best for me. I am about to choose between a Rockler Excelsior, a Rikon 70-105 - 10" and a Turncrafter Commander 10". Can anyone guide me in this process, so I can start right away.
Thank you

Welcome from Colorado. I am sure you will get information from turners that have these machines and will give a much more informed comparison.

Welcome from Texas!!

I fly with a Harbor Freight lathe so I am no help to you on that front. But good luck, you will love this addictive hobby

Welcome to the IAP.

I also use a HF lathe, 10 x 18.

The Rockler excelsior is an exact replica in every way to the HF lathe I use. For the price, it is a wonderful first tool. Never use the other ones.

Good luck!
