Hi, my name is Chris. I live in Upstate NY with my wife and two children. Fishing and building fishing rods are my favorite pastimes. I started turning pens earlier this year when I was out of work for a while. I also ordered a few bottle stopper kits and hook file kits recently.
I've been looking at a lot of your pens here, and I must say, there is some extrordinary work here! There is a lot of inspiration in these pages.

For those of you that don't know, Chris is an excellent Custom Rod Builder, and even though he likes those darned spinning rod thingys, he does make a fantastic looking fly rod once in awhile just to show us purists he can build a real fishing rods as well! *LOL*.

He is not only a very talented fellow, he is definitely in the ranks of the Good Guys of the World!!!

Glad to see you here Chris! We need to convince Rovercat to join here as well, though I'm not sure if this group is ready for a guy like Brian! *LOL*

Keep up the good work with the pens and such!

Welcome Chris! Glad to have you here.

Below are links to two threads/articles that have lots of information on pen turning. The first one is a very basic overview of the many aspects of getting into turning pens.

The second link has postings by different pen turners and what they wish they had known earlier:

Here is another link - a PDF on the acronyms used here. I am sure you know many but this will help with those you don't.
