Hello from Motown

Hi, everyone from a newbie turner in Metro Detroit. I was recently gifted a full-sized lathe and turning tools and have yet to even turn on the machine. I thought that one way to gain some familiarity with the machine would be to turn some pens. Then, I received a turned pen from a friend for Christmas, and I knew I needed to learn this craft.

Like anything to do with woodworking, I'm sure that this is a slippery slope/addiction-in-waiting, and I look forward to reading through this site and learning from the members.
