I've been truing pens for almost a month now. Bought a starter kit and turned my first pen on Christmas Eve and gave it to my father for a present. He's a hard guy to buy anything for since he just buys anything he needs.
Since then I've been bitten by the bug. Attached is a photo of a few of the pens I've turned. Each one is getting a little better and I'm learning a lot between this forum and youtube videos.
I went to the doctor the other day and need to have shoulder surgery in February on my right shoulder. A really bad tear on my cuff, so it will slow me down for a while, but I should be able to get back at it around 6-8 weeks after the surgery.
My other hobby is High Power Rocketry. These are not the model rockets you did as a kid. My largest so from is a 10" in diameter x 16.5' tall and flys on a "N" motor! Building the big rockets requires lots of composite work using epoxy, so I'm starting to use my experience with that to work on making acrylic blanks. Both of the acrylic pens in the picture are using my blanks.
Looking forward to learning and trying new things.
