Just wanted to introduce myself and say that I have learned a lot just lurking. I am new to turning pens and love it. I have been turning segmented vessels for a while. Pen turning is a great way to spend the time waiting for glue ups to dry, which is most of the time with segmented turning. Looking forward to learning the ins and outs of pen turning.

Howdy, I'm new here too. I am also very new to turning. I'm basically learning from failure. I've only had my lathe a few weeks. I have the largest Harbor Freight lathe. I've tried bowls but none of the wood that I have at the moment is any good for them. I will probably glue some 2x4's together and try to make a bowl. It doesn't seem like a good investment to go out and get really good wood to learn from.
