Hello All, Happy New Years! Thanks, Jeff for the add. I look forward to learning a lot from all the seasoned vets here! I own a small woodshed specializing in custom carvings, shadowboxes, chests and plaques for military. I generate a lot of scrap, so I invest in a lathe to start turning pens (looking for profit here!). Any advice welcome and needed!

Happy Turning,
Michael Wells

Welcome to the forum. Advice? Is there a Rockler or Woodcraft store close to you? I have found WC to be most helpful. The lathe is the first and cheapest step. You will need some basic tools as a roughing gouge, spindle gouge, parting tool. A good chuck is necessary. Some the more experienced forum members here will help with the penturning as I am fairly new myself, although I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express once. There is a section- Other Things We Make. This would be a good place to show us the things you list in your first post.
Don't forget a credit card with a high limit! Again, welcome to the forum!
