New member here with the mandatory introduction email.
I am a technical communicator (writer and illustrator) by trade. I have quite a number of hobbies. I do general woodturning as well. My preference is hardwood and burls but I will turn anything. I do a lot of functional objects. Not much into segmented or eccentric (off-center) turning.
I shoot traditional bows both longbow with a Mediterranean release and static recurve with a thumb ring. I am also a teacher of traditional archery. I do medieval reenactment mostly archery but I have training in HEMA style fencing (I.33 and german lognsword).
I am also a leather worker and a miniature painter.
I do like to explore a variety of crafting techniques.
