Been hoping to have another Houston area meeting since February but just could not find the time.
So, who in the area is interested in a get-to-gather?

We can all get together and share some of the tree's that fell in our yards. I am going to have some freshly harvested Honda-killer wood, some fence-cruncher, and possibly some some roof-penetrator burl from my neighbor's.

I got a lot of that fence-cruncher myself, but luckly no Honda-killer or roof-penetrator burl.
Was any of your fence-cruncher spatled? Mine show what appears to be a little spalting. I'll trade you for some of the roof-penetrator burl.

UPDATE 09/15/2008

To form a Chapter, you need a minimum of 5 people committed to participate in at least one meeting per year. More meetings are encouraged, but each group may set its own meeting frequency.

Once you have 5 members ready to roll and want to set up your first meeting, contact me and I will set up a sub-forum for your Chapter. Keep in mind that the Chapter sub-forum is not a substitute for the rest of the IAP forums but simply a location to post Chapter specific activities.

Jared,
The earliest I could commit to anything would be after the first of December.
I be glad to have you join us but keep in mine that Grandbury is about a 3-4 hour drive to Houston. Might want to see if someone in the Dallas/Fort Worth area starts a group.

Monty and other locals,

We're probably not going to get a big response for a couple more days since many are still without power, myself included, but I would like to see a get-together form too.

DCBluesman said we need at least 5 commited to participate in a local chapter, so count me in as one.

I agree. I just got power back yesterday ...been on a small generator since Saturday and probably will not get my ISP back until this weekend. Until then I'll be on dial up and my old ISP (can you say sloooooooow? I knew ya could.)

I travel to Montgomery once a month to Castaway rods' plant. I could probably work the date in my scheduled trip and kill 2 birds with one stone. What would you say to some boudin and cracklins'?

Monty,
I just got my internet back along with cable TV and telephone (10-04-08) and wanted to let you know to put me down as a member for the Houston area. Now I can begin to get back to normal. I have had electricity for 5 days now.

Thanks

Houston Chapter.

Fellas...I been a 'lurker' here for a while, but know there are a lot of turners in Houston area that would be interested. We've had get-togethers locally with about a dozen or so penturners and other turners.. Responding to this idea from a link on a 'fishing site' we all frequent that has a special posting board for woodturners... Please visit us and register and chime in...I'm sure ALL of us would be glad to help in forming a Chapter...

Thanks for any and all help..
