December 2013 Pith from Lorbay

I want to show you my big score from 'Lorbay', Lin!! Knocks spots off what I sent to him, I'm afraid..

Lin generously decided to send both options of the Pith choices, Kitless AND Military !!.
First is an incredibly lightweight Cumberland Ebonite fountain pen with a fine point #5 Jowo nib and feed. The pic doesn't show it but it has a flawless high gloss finish.

Next is a superb casing pen with copper trim. Seriously shiny!!:glasses-cool:

Many many thanks Lin !! Both of your pens will fit perfectly in my growing collection cabinet.

Dec PITH from Denniszoomy

I received my military PITH pen from denniszoomy yesterday. Mind blowing!! I mentioned to Dennis that my Dad flew the Navy version of the B-25 in WWII. Dennis made a steampunk (although I would call it aircraft skin) Legero with nose art from a B-25 (Special Delivery) on the cap and the tail number (02242) on the barrel. The tail number is actually one of the aircraft flown off the USS Hornet as part of Doolittle's Raid in 1942 - B-25 #8. The aircraft commander (CAPT. York) flew to the Vladisvostok area after the mission as he did not have enough fuel to make it to China. The aircraft was confiscated and eventually ended up as part of the Soviet Pacific Air Force.

This is one awesome pen and will feature prominently in my collection. Thanks, Dennis

Here is my pen from Skiprat , Wow. It's body is Titanium and Stainless post cap and nib section. It's cap is postable and is magnetic on both ends. C/W pilot G2 refil. The machining is un-real. Thanks Skip I finally have one of your pens.
Love it.

Alzey outdid himself...These are actual bullet casings...the Full Size is an actual bullet drilled out. Very Nice Job!. He also threw in a bunch of great blanks...just in time for Christmas!

To provide some more detail. The bullet is a GMX 30 lead free projectile. The bullet, brass and brass tube are soldered together, polished then clear powder coat to prevent tarnish. The stubby is an pre-fired 30-06 powder coated OD green with a copper nib and mini refill like what is in the teachers pen. Both are based on instructions in the library.

Here is the pen I made for bkg007, posted for him after offering.

Pen is a jr gent 1 in gunmetal, the tubes are Monel (60/40 nickel/copper). They are from a seawater system on a submarine that was removed during an overhaul period and I machined them. The base includes a sticker from the boat and a set of dolphins.

This is what I received for the military side from edohmann...A really cool desk set with camo blanks on 50 cal. and some very purty mesquite and spalted pecan. As usual my pics don't do them justice and Ed, if you took some better pics I'd love for you to post them. The camo is way better in real life than in these pics and the fit and finish is sweet! Thanks Ed!!

Glad you liked the desk set, George. Here's the photo I took before I shipped them - it's just an iPhone photo, but I think it does show off the Jungle Camo blank fairly well.

I only got to shoot a 50 cal gun once when I was in the army, but it was a lot of fun. I made a few of letter openers for Christmas presents & they were well received, so this military PITH seemed like the perfect opportunity to make a full desk set.

That spalted pecan is a little darker than I like, but I'll be cutting up some more soon. I should be able to send you some nicer pieces then.
Ed

Got my pen from Brett (Hard Hat) on Thursday. Today was the first day I had free to take any pics. Sadly it's raining outside (I take my pics outdoors) and even while trying to take them in the shop the humidity kept fogging up the lens. So this is the best I can do for today.

It's a custom click made up of aluminum that's be anodized red. The degree of detail in getting the refill to extend the perfect amount is very well done. I love the color! With the chrome clip the pen matches my truck! Thanks Brett!

Here's what I got from George (ambidex) today - a black ti Baron rollerball with a Kallenshaan Texas Flag blank and segmented aluminum 1st Lt bars to commemorate my time in the Texas National Guard (1969-1975).

The pen was nestled in a nice maple presentation box and the package included a whitetail antler blank on a gun metal bolt action and 6 awesome pen blanks.

George outdid himself on this one - the fit and finish on both pens are perfect and the red bottom barrel on the Baron is an added bonus for a University of Houston alum.

Thanks George, I will truly treasure these beautiful pens.
Ed

Not only has jcochrun served his county well he creates a wonderful pen too. Black enamel bolt action in chrome on pink ivory sanded with mm to 12k with hut friction polish. Just like his military career of going beyond the call of duty he included a koa blank. Jim is a true gentleman and words are not enough to say thank you.

Ichizlwood exceeded all of my expectations. My favorite pen kit, favorite color, my wife's and daughter's favorite wood blank, and accessories to aid me in my favorite game. Terry did a great job on the pen. I really like it. I can't wait to see more of his creations, pens and other items. He is very talented.

Thank you very much Terry. Keep up the great turning.

I am in awe of the wonderful pen I got from my December PITH partner John (walshjp17). It is a Le Roi Elegant long barrel, with a USAF logo inlay blank made out of holly and blue dyed maple. Also included in with the pen came three blanks. A shredded money blank, old mesquite blank, and the largest blank is black walnut.

I just want to thank John for the beautiful pen and blanks and hope that I had done half as well as he did for me.

My Swap Pen from Penmaker1967

Hi all,
As previously stated my swap partner (Penturner1967 aka Todd) and I had both received our swap pens, due to the fact Todd's camera is broken I have taken photos of both,

So here is the photos of what I received,

A gold cigar wrapped in an acrlylic camo blank,

Also in my package were a few nice cherry timber blanks, I have never turned cherry so I am looking forward to it
Cheers Ben

My gift to Penmaker1967

Here are the pictures I took of the pen & blanks I sent to Todd,

The pen is a Mark 2 Bolt Action
The blank is a piece of crosscut Hairy Oak that kinda has what looks like a target sharp or spider web pattern within the rays, finish is around 12-15 coats of CA then micro meshed, then polished with auto polish,

the blanks I sent were a few pieces of mango stump, a couple of short burl pieces ( Red Mallee & Red Coolibah ) I think from memory, a piece of macadamia nut tree(not pictured), some slightly Spalted Red Ash, and a couple of bits of Hairy Oak,
Hopefully Todd can make good use of them,

I enjoyed participating in this swap and i look forward to doing more in the future
