The 2014 Shellcase Pen Challenge is now open!

Post up to three pictures and a description of your pen here. You may enter in one of three categories:
 1. Imitation Ammo Kit,
 2. Real Ammo - Full Barrel, or
 3. Real Ammo - Freestyle
Take the best photos you can (they're all we can judge your pen by) and post them as IAP-hosted imbedded images or attachments (imbedded images will probably get more interest and therefore more votes). Photos must comply with site guidelines.

The entry period runs from July 1, 2014 - July 31, 2014. I'll create a poll to determine the winner(s) in each category on August 1. See http://www.penturners.org/forum/f70/2014-shellcase-pen-challenge-123659/#post1677711 for the full contest rules.

Good luck and have fun!

Here is my entry. It's a modified combustion blank from Jonathon Brooks (Brooks803) do I can't take credit for that part but he did create it off of one of my ideas...long ago.

Cap is topped with a 30-06 finial (female threads in the casing).

Body is the same as the cap but the refill is replaced at the body finial.

Front section is a 5.56 casing. I parted off a bit of the section where the primer goes to shorten the overall pen length. I glued the nose cone in place. It's a rose gold nose cone. Then I glued the front section into the body.

Hand sanded a ton. Not on the lathe hand sanded to even up all the ends and shape. I was terrified to keep this on the lathe. C&C welcome and when this contest is done tips on improving are also appreciated.

That's a very nice pen Ty! Great concept and execution. It gives the others something to "shoot for" with their entries.

Speaking of other entries, what's keeping everyone? We have a contest now, but still no competition. Also, there are no submissions yet in the imitation or whole cartridge divisions. Lets see some more pens!

Real Ammo Category

Here's my entry in the Real Ammo Contest.

It's a fully custom/kitless .50cal Fountain Pen.

The brass has been modified to receive a front section and hold a full sized converter. It has a real boat tail bullet "Cap" that had a solid steel core that was drilled out. I also had to do some hand work to widen base so the section and nib would fit. It's sporting a #6 Schmidt M nib.

Was asked to show the Nib on my Masonic 50 BMG. I found one picture with the Nib sticking up a little but not good enough to show so im changing my entry to one with double windows and deer antler inside. You can see the nib better with that one. Please remove other entry.. :)

That is a sharp pen Jonathon. It looks a lot like the one I saw at the MAPG. Is this one similar, or did you do something different with it?

Thanks Eric,
This one is just like the one that you saw at the MAPG. Just a different brand nib. It has some personalized engraving on it that's on the opposite side. Since it has names, etc. on it I didn't want to show it for the contest.

I don't know what Eric plans on doing with you, but if you break the rules in the Slimline Contest or the Ballpoint contest, the punishment is that you have to enter the Kitless Contest!
I'm not nearly so lenient. I decree that rule breakers have to enlist someone else to enter the contest. You got three days (insert evil laughter here).

Time is running out!

Seriously though, the deadline to enter is almost here and the contest is still wide open. The pens submitted so far are great, but there's still plenty of opportunity to compete (in all three categories, but especially in the imitation and real ammo - whole divisions).

It's almost "last call" - so let's see some more entries!
