PITH Pairings - Updated 8/10/10

Here are the pairings for PITH 2010. If you signed up and your name is not in this list please let me know as soon as possible.

Contact you partner. If you are unable to make contact with your partner within a reasonable amount of time (what ever amount of time you define as reasonable) let me know and I will get you a new partner. Plenty of people have expressed willingness to exchange with more than one person.

Stay in contact with your partner. Make contact with eachother at least once per week just to see how things are going. If your partner mysteriously vanishes let me know and I'll find you another one. As stated in the original PITH post, anyone who falls off the grid may, depending on the circumstances, be dropped from this years PITH, banned from next year's PITH and possibly banned from participating in other IAP activities.

The goal for completion of all swaps is 5 weeks from today (9/4). The drawing for the $50.00 gift certificate will be held 8 weeks from today (9/25). See further details about the drawing for the gift certificate in the PITH 2010 Photos thread.

Unfortunately the, "Special Meeting" was canceled due to lack of interest.

In the interest of full disclosure, if anyone cares, here is how the drawing was done. I went tohttp://www.random.com http://www.random.org/ and pasted the group 1 list in their "List Randomizer". I then "randomized" it 5 times. I cut and pasted the results into a Word document. Then I did the same thing with list 2, cutting and pasting into the same Word document beneath list one. I then formatted the list so it would be easier to read the pairs. There were several (less than 5) instances where two individuals from outside the USA were paired together. In those instances I took the top person from outside the USA and switched him with the first person from the USA directly above him. Yes, that was a form of manipulation, but it was still random. No two specific people were paired together. If figured that it would be better to have two people from Australia, for example, trading with people from the USA instead of with each other.

Once the Word document was formatted for easy reading I cut and pasted it into the post.

The list in post 1 has been updated to include the people who took advantage of the week extension. My goal was to get a large number of people from around the world participating in the PITH. I'm satisfied with our efforts.

There are 200 people from 7 countries signed up for PITH 2010!! :biggrin:
