First time cutting threads, please educate me if my method of measuring is wrong.
I have an existing male part thread (acme, but it fits the 32 TPI 'v' gauge) that I'd like to turn a celluloid rod to to replace the female counterpart. My question is what tap size should I use given these measurements (If I can get the brand of the tap and die set to get, that would be even better):
Male part, from top of threads: 23/64 in.
Male part, no thread part: 21/64 in.
Female part, between top of threads across diameter: 22/64 in.
Thanks for the help.
