I am about to get back into turning pens as soon as I can get my DC installed and running. But, I have a bit of remodeling to in order to accomplish that. (And I am still working full time on a part time job "consulting" - in retirement. )

I want to try making a pen that includes making my own nib, band and clip. What is the best transmission for the Schmidt 9000? And is there anyone that sells theses twist transmission parts individually?

Are there other high quality ball point or roller ball that anyone would recommend? And transmission component that goes with it? I have been thinking about this for months and the "Click Frustration" with the Schmidt 9000 refills thread pushed me to ask.

Thanks

Reminder -- roller balls need a spring but no transmission. That is what makes them easy for "kitless". Length is kind of important, but has tolerance.

The easiest mechanism to mount has always seemed to be the click like the Schmidt mechanism that Richard Greewald sells.

But I am not a volume custom from scratch pen maker.
