A new, local turner asked me to show him the basics of turning and, given the season, figured a Christmas tree would be a fun, easy project. We had a blast, he got to take the tree home to the little lady and that visit inspired me to turn this piece.

That is Nice! Don't you just love it when a teaching or training exercise turns out something so great!

I have a small red cedar log that I think I will try today!

Very nice, I've turned a few, but with uniform round bases. I like your's much better. Great natural design feature.
