What I got the lathe for

Even though turning Reel Seat inserts abs ends for fly rod grip is why I acquired my lathe it seams I am doing less and less of that and more of other things.
The Box Elder for the insert and grip end came from a log my neighbor was going to burn in his wood stove.

This is all he had that was Burl. Now if he cuts down the rest of the tree that is a sifferent story.

It is a reel seat and the beginings of a grip for a fly rod.

It's the part of the fishing pole(fly rod) where the reel attaches to the handle of the rod.
