I sent some pictures of the stopper I've made. One of them has issues with the height of stoppers and the refrigerator and ask if the stopper could be buried the stopper inside the cap. I though I would give it a try. I used a 1 1/4" Forstner bit and drilled a hole about and 1" deep and then a hole for the stopper. I came out OK I took a bit to much off the top and got in to the hole I drilled for the stopper. I'm going to send it to my brother since he gave me the idea. All C&C are welcome

Great look Dan. On the one you drilled to deep. make a clean hole on the top and fill it in with a contrasting color wood dowel, a mixture of CA and metalic powder. or a brass rod. Jim S

That's a nice topper there Dan... I haven't tried the metal cones in mine yet, but have been making the 'hidden cork' for some time now... I use the little silicone stoppers on the hardwood dowells... they sell pretty well.

Here are a few:

You know some stoppers are way to long and they will not fit in the fridge (white chilled wine) and this one has a nice low profile. Well done. Dan

Thanks Lin, I was looking at it this morning and I realized that the stopper will have to be removed for cleaning, that can be done fairly easy by using the bottle as a kind of clamp. I wonder if this could be a draw back to a customer. As I said I'm going to send it to my brother and let him do some testing.

Nice stopper there, Dan. I like the proportions.

Check out Eddie Castelin's videos. I believe he has a couple showing the inverted stoppers made to resemble knit caps (watch caps for all you former Swabbies :biggrin:).

The SS Niles web site also has a few photos of them including one of a football helmet with face-guard. Bottle stopper gallery

Hey Dan,
Thanks for the compliments.. I'm going to have to try the cone in one of these pretty soon... I like the effect of yours.

My stoppers are about 2 to 2 1/4 inches high and about half or less are over the bottle top... usually about where the pseudo stem starts.

This stopper is 1 3/4" high with 3/4" above the top of the bottle. I'll know more about the height once my brother test's it out.
