Frank Penta did a demo of a multi-axis platter base at the Virginia Woodturners Symposium last weekend. He also displayed some square platters. He may have done a demo on those but I missed it and just winged it on this one. My base is not as smooth as I would like it but I will take it for my first attempt. Cherry 10" by 10".

Sweet Cody...you nailed it!.....uniform thickness, minimal segment so the cherry is the feature, grain match in the cherry, textured bottom, multi axis detail....you get a Gold Star!

I saw the square platter demo but missed the one about the multi axis base.
Too many demos....not enough time.
He really had some nice platters....and a good write up in the symposium handbook.

That is beautiful Cody! I was going to make some comments, but Charlie beat me to each point.

I will say that I love the segment accent strip - It is subtle, but really adds a lot in my opinion.

I really need to retire to try some of this... (Oh wait - I am)!
