I've been liking these little bottle stoppers lately. No drilling, hardware, or gluing - just pure turning. All you need is a tenon (I do 0.57" wide and 0.83" long) to slip the silicone stopper over. You can turn the top to be whatever your heart desires. I had a spare 40 minutes this evening so grabbed a little piece of Buckthorn that was kicking around and had at it. Since the last one I did was a mushroom top, I thought I'd do a flat top on this one. Then, I thought, since it was flat, I could hit it with the laser (the little 1500mw NEJE/MERTEK/ETC). I was surprised I could focus on something that tall, but it worked fine. I got the stoppers at Woodcraft - they're less than a dollar each.
