This is all Micah's fault----he needed some Hickory yesterday---So I went down and cut him some. I knew where there was a Shag Bark that had blown over early this spring. So while I was at it---I cut a couple of blanks for me to. This morning when I went to the shop---yup it was in the way---so I fixed that.
The wood ain't a joy to work with but the results where worth the trouble.

That's a beaut Gary. I grew up in Ohio and we used to use shag bark to start our campfires...easy to get handsfuls of bark off in a hurry. Made some real tasty meals over the coals from it too. [:)]

This tree just had some personality----most of the hickory you see in board form has very litte figure. Plus that's a crotch section that I turned the bowl from.
