A couple of Bowie's. The horn is sambar. Stainless steel blade. My brother makes my sheaths. Would love to find a small enough sambar to make a pen.
Have a great Easter!

Thank you for the kind words.
If you ever find sambar small enough for a pen, give it a go. Sambar has a pretty solid core.

Those are beautiful! My first thought was "I'd love to make a pen out of the sambar"! What kind of woods did you use? The one looks like desert ironwood. Anyway both are gorgeous.

Thank you.
The spacer wood is desert ironwood and corrugatta Burl. The Burl is from a pen blank.

Fantastic work on the knives!! They are spectacular!
Also top notch on the leather work. Tell your brother to keep up the excellent work.
Good to see your collaborative work!

Beautiful Workmanship!

That's some fine work! Well Done!

It looks like the guards on those knives are made of different materials. One I'm sure is brass but I'm not sure about the other. Is it stainless steel?

They're both beautiful, but I like the one that looks like stainless and has the mosaic pin a little better.

I love the sheath as well.

Sambar is kinda hard to come by. A piece small enough to leave some of the outside texture and still turn down into the white would make a nice pen. I think the Indian government controls the export to keep the price up. There should be no shortage as the Sambar deer shed antlers yearly and Indian stag gatherers pick them up as a source of income. I have seen hundreds of these antlers at a manufacturing site. Good stuff, extremely little pith in the center as compared to our White Tail.

Thank you. Both guards are bronze. However, one Bowie was finished about three weeks before and has started its natural patina. I suspect the stainless looking guard is the freshly finished bronze.

I really like sambar because of the pretty solid core. I get the sambar dyed and stabilized. Good stuff as you said.

That bronze has a nice look! You made a great choice in materials all around! Beautiful work!
