Default Ring Boxes for Wife and Daughter

I made these wooden ring boxes for my wife and daughter. A fun weekend project. One box is a combination of red oak and mesquite and the other is mesquite and olive wood. I used a forstner bit for the ring compartment and scrollsaw to cut out the heart shaped layers of wood. Glued together with wood glue. Sanded with my oscillating sander. Used a wooden dowel for the hinge.

I finished them with my homemade beeswax / mineral oil mixture.

If you're interested in seeing how I made it, check out my YT video: Heart Shaped Ring Box

Yes, they were both very happy. They don't normally watch over my shoulder or come into my shop that much, so I was able to keep it a surprise.

Very nicely done. I do something similar just that mine are scrollsawn layered pieces. They make nice gifts to sell also.
