Hello. Just thought I'd share a picture of a fly rod reel seat I have recently finished. It's made with a small piece of 55 million year old mummified wood recovered from a diamond bearing volcanic orebody in northern Canada. I was able to get plenty of advice from the folks on the casting and stabilization forum to get it to a point I could work it.
I'm happy with the finish, didn't want the seat glossy. I finished the parts on the grip with CA and left the seat natural.

I have a fair amount of ancient ivory from mammoth digs. I have been thinking about a use for. I may be able to use some on a fishing rod. Thanks for the thought. You did a very nice job on yours.

I'm guessing you didn't put this one a 1wt?

Looks really cool though. Is the 'rock' threaded too?

It's a Sage Circa 2wt. Perfect for the mountain streams around Calgary.
I'm sorry, I don't understand what you mean by 'rock'

Cheers,
Steve
