Do the turkeys know how to use it?? Just kidding, how does a turkey call like this work?? Scratching the slate with the wood?? Or? I am not a hunter, but I am always amazed with their gear.

Dave the call looks good seems like I have seen it somewhere else. Are you the only one from the CCO on here also.

Terry, yes I posted it over there.

Rudy, You scratch the surface with the small end of the wood causes the slate to vibrate into the sound chamber and out the bottom.

How does it sound? What did you use for a sound board?
The turners on the CCO are just as helpful as the turners here
on pointing you in the right direction to go. If anybody gets a chance
to check CCO out,there is a lot of good turners on there also.

I think it sounds good. I posted a sound file on CCO. Penn big bed slate co. They are on the web, or go to CCO website they have links to several places.

The call is slate/slate.
