Thank you everyone for the compliments. I gifted bowl to my cousin and his wife, I hear they like it very much. I've made a few more since then with various color schemes. I'll be happy to share how I did this when I get home, spending time right now visiting my grandmother who is only a couple years from turning 100. But in the mean time there are some videos on how this is done online, a few in youtube.
